Every Friday in our column “Style Selec’tings” Kingstonstyle’s Fashion Editor, E. Hansen-McKnight, scours the web to give you the week’s best in clothing and accessories from web-savvy Jamaican stores and designers.
Today on Style Selec’tings I picked five local looks that will carry you though a weekend of club hopping, beach going and backyard chilling. From sexy swim to dangerously flirtatious bodycon, here are my five picks for the weekend.
1.) Jae Jolly’s Mesh Swimsuit. Why is mesh so sexy? Maybe it’s the material’s ability to just give a peek-a-boo of skin, hinting at something more hiding beneath the barely there fabric, or maybe it’s the way it evokes a rough and tough punk rock memory of fishnet tights and mesh gloves. Whatever it is, sexy is working well for this Jae Jolly piece.
2.) Modern Edge from House of Jade. This ensemble screams weekend warrior. From the low heeled boots, to the high-waisted shorts and cheetah print blazer: you can take it to the streets and then directly to the club for a night of effortless fun.
3.) Sophistication and Form from Style Savvy. This cropped mesh (yes, mesh again) top and bodycon midi skirt hugs your curves and bares some skin without being too obvious. I love that it is sophisticated enough for cocktails on the veranda and sexy enough for late night shenanigans.
4.) Easy breezy in a Flirt Boutique Playsuit. Keep it cool and chic in this colourful V-neck playsuit from Flirt Boutique, perfect for laying about on a lazy afternoon or hitting the decks with your sailing companions (the former being more likely than the later for peeps like me.)
5.) Funky and Fresh from Alter Ego. The ladies at Alter Ego know how to pull together a funky outfit and this two-piece midi dress in a retro tropical print will definitely keep you fresh-faced for an afternoon at the art gallery or a sweltering evening in the hills listening to the Kingston Dub Club crew.
