Every Friday in our column “Style Selec’tings” Kingstonstyle’s Fashion Editor, E. Hansen-McKnight, scours the web to give you the week’s best in clothing and accessories from web-savvy Jamaican stores and designers.
There is tons of colour and charm on this week’s Style Selec’tings thanks to the continuous influx of new styles from your local retailers. I compiled some of my favourite looks in electric/hot and chic/cool tones for you to browse over. From neon yellows, greens, pastel blues and pinks and eye-catching tropical prints to silver sleek and plunging black swimsuits with fringe, there is a little something for everyone.
Firstly, let me mention that Giirli Gurlz has released a line of spring swimwear along with a sexy deep-V “road warrior” ensemble with silver embellishments and fringe. The looks couldn’t be more different but are equally intriguing. Note that the Carnival piece comes in both a high-hip retro style as well as the lower hip-hugger, depending on your preference. Sport those lively, brighter pieces at the beach with one of these pastel Swizz Beads bracelets that look perfect for stacking.
You’re gonna want to dig deep into colour this spring. Here is how: these simple neon tanks from Base Kingston–currently on sale– can be paired perfectly with the multi-coloured printed shorts from Wild/Free at Alter Ego. Mix it up with a brightly-coloured crop top, like this one from The Wardrobe, or get really pink with this caged bustier top from Club Intuition.
As promised by Yahdie Conscious, her new designs were delivered to Style Savvy this last week. YC designer James Black created two styles: a new two-piece shorts set and a matching pants-set, both in a funky, retro print (as seen here on Erica). Not to be missed out on is her African print bikini top, of course (which we mentioned in our last post), and these Fashioniera vintage distressed shorts available at Style Savvy. We like how Erica styled them with gladiators to make it extra funky and cool.
Keeping it chic, Flirt Boutique– who has new spring stock just in– styled their neon look with a more sophisticated tropical print short in the popular triangle cut style. I thought a silver cuff bracelet, like this one from Peace-is of Bianca, would look nice paired with the ensemble. I’ve been trying to introduce metallic silver into my accessories a little more so I especially like these silver sandals available from XTRAS. Pair it with black shorts and you have a mature day look. Also, if you’re out and about this weekend be sure to check out Fabulous Findz tomorrow from 12-6pm at their Sip N’ Shop event. They’ll be having big discounts on items, like these two sexy little handbags pictured below.
