Dancin’ Digs: New Slow/Fast Tracks That’ll Revive You

New digs to dance to.

New digs to dance to.

For our third edition of “Dancin’ Digs” we “dig” deeper into the “remix” and the “collaboration” track. Even though it wasn’t exactly intentional, we couldn’t ignore the reoccurring theme. We saw some gems in these collaborative works and compiled five new songs for you to dance to– slow or fast– sourced straight from the bloglines we love and delivered to you for a little Wednesday upliftment. So as we say, shake those mid-week blues right off and get to work with a little skip in your step.

Major Lazer, “Aerosol Can ft Pharrell”

From the highly anticipated new Apocalypse Soon Ep, Major Lazer drops the jammer “Aerosol” featuring Pharrell as a prelude to the album release. The EP is set to be released on February 25th and will feature collaborative tracks from Jamaican hard-hitters Sean Paul, RDX, Soca-star Machel Montano and Brit crooner Mr. Fox. You can pre-order Apocalypse Soon …now over on iTunes.

Tafari, “I Want You Remix ft. Nyla”

On occasion we get the opportunity to style the lovely dancehall artiste Nyla from the former Brick and Lace. She is a doll and we love working with her. The last time we caught up, we had the chance to style her for this Tafari “I Want You” video. All we had to do is put her in a crisp white Theory jacket, a playful Forever 21 one-piece and two-piece Zara suit set and she took it from there. Looking like a gem Nyla!

Chronixx, “Here Comes Trouble” Live for BBC Radio 1Xtra
BBC Radio 1 was lingering in the hills a few weeks back, hitting up Kingston Dub Club and hanging with some of Kingston’s best new reggae artistes and a few of our veterans. When they came down to the flats they got down to business, taking to the historic Tuff Gong Studios to record tracks for their Jamaica series. Their comprehensive study of our local music scene gave way to an awesome collection of tracks and interviews from artistes like Tarrus Riley, Cham and Damien Jr Gong Marley and Chronixx. We had to share this live version of “Here Comes Trouble” from Chronixx because as usual, he crushes it.

Miguel, “Simplethings (Girls V.2 Soundtrack)

Ok guys, we know you rate Miguel for his sultry tracks (and maybe his hot model girlfriend too) but nothing compares to how these ladies feel about Miguel. He’s back at it again. This time with a song for the Girls soundtrack, and the song is as sexy as you would expect. It’s called “Simplethings” and it simply feels really really right.

FKA Twigs, “Hide (with Young Turks)”

Everything about this video is absolutely stunning. Not only do we adore the style of FKA Twigs, we are equally impressed with her haunting voice. In this video she collaborates with Young Turks in a remote Mayan village in Mexico, utilizing the space of an old stone structure to reverberate her voice off the walls. In the back ground musicians play minimalistic beats while children clang sticks together and against walls. Meanwhile, in the middle FKA Twigs twists her body in a lace ensemble, looking like a Mayan queen. Absolutely compelling.
