Misfits in Revolt

Every Friday in our column “Style Selec’tings” Kingstonstyle’s Fashion Editor, E. Hansen-McKnight, scours the web to give you the week’s best in clothing and accessories from web-savvy Jamaican stores and designers.

Ladies, let’s face it, we have it easy. Most retail stores cater to our needs and treat men’s clothes as an afterthought. Guys, it’s not really fair, we know. In light of our earlier post this week on the Rage Apparel x Gyant snapback collaboration, we are highlighting some men’s style from local retailers. While there are plenty of options on the streets for guys to get their fashion fix, their are just a few local stores that we consider go-to’s for menswear.

We are feeling the simple style from Misfits in Revolt. You may have remembered this summer’s obsession with streetwear from We Are Massiv? Well Jamaica has a little streetwear style of its own in Misfits in Revolt and we love the playfulness of their simple designs. Speaking of streetwear, the store that brought us an onslaught of We Are Massiv gear, Base Kingston, keeps their men’s section updated with new pieces from Obey, Clarks and local designers on the regular.

You can’t talk about retail stores and menswears without bringing up Grandeur Male. The store has become an institution locally and with a well executed online store to boot. Now they are launching a new store with the grand opening tonight at their new Constant Spring Rd location and a whole lot of new merchandise. The owners over at The Wardrobe also carry a great collection of basics for guys, like these trendy coated denim jeans. Lastly, we love the humble Rastafarian style of Mamayashi Collection, who’s clothes are often spotted on local Reggae stars Protoje and Chronixx.
