Just when it feels like all the summer beach parties are about to cave in on us, the 2013 swimwear collection is unveiled from Jamaican designer Jae Jolly. The collection comes just in time to salvage a lackluster closet and we’re not half mad for its tardiness because it was well worth the wait. We had a first glimpse into Jae Jolly’s new “Ocean Floor” collection yesterday in an online lookbook from photographer Luca Khouri, who shot the pieces amongst a curtain of foliage on model Chantel Davis. Each style is titled with the name of a sea creature and a corresponding mixture of textures, tropical colours and patterns, bringing to life the elements of the sea in fringes and sheer waves of fabric.
The Jae Jolly brand has been gaining momentum in the Jamaican fashion industry as one of the most creative and colourful designers for the hip crowd looking for those next-gen trends. We love the brand for its trendy designs, yes, but also the designer Janel Jolly’s whimsical creative process which often inspires her to design something new on an inclination–even just for a weekend soirée.
