Self-taught designer Karl Brown from Hatitude captivated the runways of Kingston Bridal Week 2012 this year with his small but bold hat additions to fellow bridal designer’s ensembles. KS chatted with him about his designs. See more after the jump.
Hatitude designer, Karl Brown, introduced graceful yet playful designs to the first annual Kingston Bridal Week 2012 this year. Brown told Kingstonstyle that he originally got the inspiration for the line from his mother, who was a avid church goer. “She was more conservative,” Brown noted, “I always thought we could do more with hats.”
Brown’s uniquely eclictic mix of colours and styles shocked and awed the audience at the Bridal Week fashion shows in September, although he claimed, “it’s a natural thing, I’ve never been trained for this.”
Loved by Jamaicans, the internationally acclaimed Brown works from his home in Portmore and ships his hats from Jamaica to customers as far as the Tri-state area and Europe. His use of elements in nature and fabrics and colours inspired by every day life, bring his pieces together and make them eccentric. More of his designs can be seen here.
